KetoGains: protein vs mTOR vs aging etc random rant

It’ll probably be deleted, but I’m drunk and felt like ranting on all the stuff against protein and such lately.

Longform post warning: In light of all the protein vs mTOR vs aging vs cancer etc stuff (forget protein = choc cake FFS), one question remains – WTF can I actually eat unless I’m drinking butter?

Rosedale goes on about macronutrients and needs and how you need to restrict protein, but never is there a sustainable LIFESTYLE put forth.

I posted a breakdown of Rosedale’s talk here, but there’s still more questions than answers really: http://highsteaks.com/mtor/

For a fairly average ~40yo low-moderately muscled not too fat guy like me his recommendation is <50g protein, max ~60g. But then says "just eat real/whole foods!". I get the science of sparing/maintaining/building, don't bother with citations. I'm talking about actual lifelong non-obsession about food. In order to eat "whole" foods I would have to cut off most of the lean parts, then add a ton of fat to the fatty parts. This is the exact opposite of eating whole foods. And funnily enough exact opposite of what the other "paleo" people call "whole" foods (cut off the fat cos it's the bad part of whole food yo!). I already practice what most would consider a super ridiculous high-fat lifestyle, but really all I do is eat fatty meat and gristly bits, and skip the plants mostly. ( http://ashsimmonds.com/2014/08/01/what-i-eat/ )

But 50g of protein – picture it – it’s a few eggs, it’s about 1/2 of your juicy ribeye, it’s a few handfuls of peanuts, maybe 2 sausages. What other “whole foods” can you eat for the rest of the day that don’t contain protein or carbs?

Oooh, I know – fat! Or, vodka.

All I’ve been asking for years is what the hell a LIFE SUSTAINABLE menu on ridiculous protein restriction looks like?

Don’t get me wrong – I’m a huge fan of Rosedale, but like so many others it’s just a diet plan that is set up to fail simply because it’s untenable outside of some Matrix simulation.

Those who know me know I’m more on the “zero carb” side of things as a baseline, but in the end my settle point is based on what I consider best and most sustainable for my body AND my lifestyle, which is a mix of “zero carb” and “ketogains” and “ketodrunk”, with the occasional “what the fuckever”.

Whilst I consider the constant “calorie” whining really silly (as soon as I see that word it’s scroll scroll scroll), I reckon the general KetoGains™ lifestyle in general to be probably the most sustainable for the largest subset of the population.

Not that I workout for shit.
