Louca’s Hutt St – Seafood Platter
Been reading a lot of Jack Kruse for some reason and found his position on fish – especially oysters and shellfish – being the optimum brain foods interesting, which gave me a craving for some and I remembered a seafood restaurant on Hutt St opening a few months back that I’ve been meaning to check out.
Just went with the char-grilled platter for $90 bucks which sounded nice, but for some reason it came out in under five minutes – that’s not an exaggeration. But hey it took us the whole bottle of wine to consume so that’s ok, also the chips were underneath it all so we weren’t tempted to eat them throughout the meal. However it would have been better to send it out in 3-4 instalments rather than a pyramid of pisces.
It was… ok.
Soft shell crab was delicious and not sure what they coated it in (kinda light KFC hot wing’ish without the spice) but it was far better than some other experiences I’ve had recently where they coat the damn things in what amounts to pancake batter.
The rest was decent enough, but really it’s just regular pub fare.
